Let’s Talk About Men’s Mental Health

Men’s mental health is too often left unspoken — but the ripple effects are felt everywhere: in our workplaces, families, communities, and client relationships. Stress, burnout, and silence not only affect wellbeing, but also culture, productivity, and how people show up every day.

With International Men’s Day on 19 November, it’s a timely opportunity to shine a light on this important issue through events that connect and inspire. Consider how you might bring it into your calendar:

  • Workshops that give practical strategies for resilience and wellbeing.
  • Panel discussions that encourage open, honest conversation.
  • Podcast-style sessions recorded just for your team or client base.
  • Working lunches or client events that combine networking with a meaningful focus.

The impact comes from the voices you bring to the room. Some share deeply personal stories — like Anthony Hart, a suicide survivor who turns his lived experience into practical tools that save lives. Others create connection through service, like Nasir Sobhani, known as The Streets Barber, or Craig Hollywood, who founded Short Back & Sidewalks offering free haircuts and conversations to vulnerable Australians.

You might want the perspective of advocates who’ve shaped national conversations, such as Gus Worland (Gotcha4Life), Jeremy Macvean (Movember and The Father Hood), or Wayne Schwass, who transitioned from AFL to becoming a mental health leader. For a global voice, James Peach brings electrifying energy to the mission of ending suicide worldwide.

And then there are those who bridge humour, leadership, and resilience — from Mark McConville’s Laughter Clinic to Dean Yates’ insights as a Reuters leader covering global crises, to Craig Hamilton’s raw story of living with Bipolar 1 Disorder. Each brings a unique way to spark conversations that matter.

At ICMI, we can help you curate your event program — whether it’s an intimate workshop, a client lunch, or a larger keynote — that not only marks the day but leaves people more open, connected, and better equipped to support the men in their lives.
