VIRTUAL AND LIVE
Over the next few years the world's best leaders, companies and cities will have to return to the drawing board and reimagine everything. Those who don't will be a horse-and-cart in an electric car world.
As we begin to think about how we get through this current terrible experience, we must also dream about the post-pandemic world, how we will reimagine our businesses and work, every element of our experiences and interactions. Those who don't reinvent and renegotiate everything will be unprepared for this brave new world. Those who do, and who then successfully deliver their corner of the world, will flourish.
- The Great Reimagining
Extraordinary experiences have united cities, families, teams and individuals for millennia. Experiences are at the heart of every successful life, relationship, business or project. Experiences give products value, influence people's choices, and make life worth living. We must now dream up the new experiences that surround our working lives, businesses and leisure time.
In order to create the great experiences of the future, we need to explore and revisit the great experiences of the past, but seen through the prism of 2020 onwards.
Creating unforgettable experiences is like magic ...... we start with the elements and limitations we have ...... we add in the expectation of those we want to bedazzle ...... we put in more time and skill than anyone will ever know ...... and then we exceed expectations with the truly astonishing!
Discover the tricks that the best companies, creatives and major event maestros have used for decades, and what past experiences can inspire you in the reimagining of the world, and the upcoming journey from surviving to thriving.
- Giant Thinking
As the world returns to the drawing board ...... as teams contract and expand ...... as the world's infrastructure is reimagined ...... and disruption is the new normal ...... the best leaders, companies and countries will have to devise and deliver a huge range of company-wide, city-wide and world-wide projects.
You will need rigorous methodologies and roadmaps to enable simultaneous development of projects alongside reimagining your existing activity. You will have to use giant thinking and precision delivery to achieve the astonishing.
The Noongar Nation (the Aboriginal people of south-west Western Australia) recognise that there are six seasons, not four. Likewise, all great ideas, projects, artworks or creations can be broken down into six seasons. This allows the whole team to identify where they are at any given moment, to discuss with colleagues and collaborators the exact stage they are going through, and to approach each season with a different energy and methodology.
Giant thinking is the six seasons of every great endeavour, full of tricks and techniques to achieve the extraordinary. It is the roadmap to success, and when you and your colleagues have the secret, your ideas will scale up, your resilience will grow, your results will skyrocket, your leaders will succeed and your team will be full of everyday heroes.
- Reimagining Conferences in a Time of Extreme Crisis
The success or failure of every venture balances on shared direction, on clarity of decision-making and communication, and on the passion and energy of everyone involved.
For decades, the system has been clear: The Conference - the opportunity to learn, inspire, energise, team-build (vision and mission); The Retreat - the chance to strategise, shape, plan, refine (strategy); Management Meetings - where the progress is monitored in real time (tactics); Team working - where the plan gets carried out and delivered (action); and repeat...
At a time of global change and remaking of everything, there has never been a more important time for inspiration and clarity. At a time of physical distancing and a shift to digital platforms, it has never been more difficult to ensure shared beliefs and direction, and create a sense of team.
Zoom is great for sharing and for discussing. For clarity, rigorous debate and tough decision making, it needs external moderation. Those who address this, who rapidly rethink everything they have already perfected in a pre-pandemic world, will emerge from this current situation in the best position to enter the new decade.
- MC / Facilitator
Jonathan can work with you on how to structure and design your conference or meeting or event, advising on the best platform, ideas, schedule and potential guests, in order to make the event totally unforgettable and utterly effective.
During the event, his energetic and enthusiastic style puts energy into the room and excites the participants in a way that ensures the messages last long after the event has finished.
Online, Jonathan plays Zoom like Jean-Michel Jarre plays keyboards: improvising between imaginative camera use and real-time polling, interactive chat and Q&As, great imagery and energising musical stings, in order to create the excitement normally reserved for a major conference stage.
At the end of the event, he will humorously and smartly wrap the whole thing up by re-landing the key points from the event, making a line through the whole thing, suggesting how to use what you’ve learned, and ultimately make the audience leave on an incredible high, with action points to carry them into the next months.
Post-event, Jonathan will do a five minute to-camera piece with a more prepared summing up, reflecting on the event and restating key points and learnings, that can be distributed to attenders and other interested parties.
- Online Coaching Through Crisis
Giant Thinking and Creativity in Times of Extreme Crisis
The greatest threat to any organisation and its team at a time of extreme crisis is paralysis at the top. The best organisational leaders care about their organisation and their teams: that's why they open themselves up to the pressure and risk that leadership brings. The best organisational leaders need to have and display a wide range of traits and skills: by turns visionary, sensitive, strategic, belief-driven, people supporting, results orientated, and tough. Some of these traits and skills come naturally, some are learned, all require some level of support. Often one or two of these traits or skills come under major pressure.
In an extreme crisis like the one we face now, every one of these traits and skills comes under extreme pressure at the same time. When the crisis is global, you can’t call your usual network of peers, as everyone is under attack at the same time. It is impossible for anyone who is leading a major organisation, with any level of self-knowledge, to not have moments of paralysis in the face of this level of onslaught.
As an organisational leader, your first priority must be to put in place the systems and measures that will enable you to perform during the crisis. The first four things that an organisational leader needs to do in a crisis are reduce the sense of pressure, increase the flow of essential information, multiply the processing power and ideas, and divide the staff into three teams: survival - direction - possibilities.
As a coach through crisis Jonathan will help you work through all the issues and situations you are going through:
- Survival – behaving ethically – communication – protecting direction – positivity.
- Motivating – decision making – restructuring – reimagining.
- Recovering from furlough – re-opening – long-term success.
