ICMI are thrilled to introduce a number of iconic Formula 1 figureheads to our roster of speakers. 

Get insights from F1 visionaries across multiple disciplines in the popular worldwide motorsport, including drivers Mika Hakkinen, David Coulthard and Karun Chandhok, commercial expert Mark Gallagher and fan favourite team principal Guenther Steiner.

 

Mika Hakkinen


Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen is a true behemoth of the motorsport world. With over 20 race wins and 51 podiums across 11 seasons, he has often been voted among the greatest Formula One drivers. A notable rival of Michael Schumacher, the ice-cool Finnish racer is famously the only driver Schumacher ever feared and had the most satisfaction racing against.

Following his F1 career, he has and continues to participate in other motorsports including the Finnish Rally Championship, Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the Race of Champions series. His career has also included off-track roles in driver management, brand ambassadorships and as an F1 broadcast analyst.

David Coulthard


Global motorsport icon David Coulthard remains one of the most recognisable names in Formula 1. Joining Williams in 1993, he secured his first victory at the 1995 Portuguese Grand Prix before raking in another 12 Grand Prix wins during his 9 season stint at McLaren. 

In addition to his racing career, Coulthard is a bestselling author, race commentator, podium interviewer and entrepreneur, co-founding Whisper TV and the More Than Equal initiative, the latter of which is dedicated to improving gender diversity in motorsport. He’s also the non-Executive Chairman of W Series, the world’s first professional all-women single-seater racing series.

Karun Chandhok


One of India’s two Formula 1 drivers, Karun Chandhok is an iconic figure both on the track and in the broadcast booth. After becoming a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 test driver in 2007/8, he competed for Hispania Racing Team and Team Lotus in the 2010 and 2011 Formula 1 seasons. 

Chandhok now works as a prominent analyst for Sky Sports F1, where he offers insightful commentary and knowledge on the sport. His involvement extends beyond broadcasting, with roles in the FIA, Motorsport UK, and contributions to driver’s rights and motorsport development.

Guenther Steiner


Known for his straight-talking style, humour and wit, showcased in Netflix’s “Drive To Survive,” Guenther Steiner is a fan and media favourite in the Formula 1 world. Leading the Haas F1 team, he is one of the sport’s most well-known team principals. Under his guidance, Haas made a memorable debut in 2016 and has since established a competitive presence in the sport. 

Prior to Formula 1, Steiner’s career included rallying, engineering and management in various motorsport disciplines, equipping him with extensive and versatile knowledge about the racing world. This knowledge, combined with his trademark candid and humorous personality, makes him a favourite as public speaker.

Mark Gallagher

As a captivating keynote speaker for over two decades, Mark Gallagher’s insights into the Formula 1 world are sought after worldwide. His expertise spans regulations, business and technology with a 30 year career that has included pivotal roles at Jordan Grand Prix, Cosworth Engines, Red Bull Racing and as the founder and CEO of Performance Insights.

Mark’s also a renowned author with 4 published books as well as a broadcaster, columnist, feature writer and industry analyst. With deep-rooted connections in the racing world, he’s an endless resource of valuable insights, even extending to collaborations with Pixar on their CARS movies.

Professor Richard Hopkins

Richard Hopkins, a seasoned Formula One expert with over 25 years of experience, relocated from the UK to Australia in 2016, driven by a passion for innovation within highly regulated industries. Hopkins sees regulation as a catalyst for extreme creativity. His latest venture, HEVN, aims to revive Australia’s automotive industry by producing climate-neutral cars integrating F1 technology while prioritizing innovation, design, and sustainability.

Before moving to Australia, Richard served as the Head of Operations for the Red Bull Formula One Team, playing a pivotal role in transforming the team from never winning a Grand Prix to becoming consecutive World Champions. With a career spanning 28 years in F1, starting at the age of 16 in 1987, Hopkins accumulated extensive knowledge working with top-tier technology, engineers, innovators, and racing drivers. As a Professor at UNSW Sydney, Richard Hopkins scaled the universities Sunswift Solar Electric Prototype car project into global leaders in renewable and sustainable transport. Hopkins shares his wealth of experience in high-performance settings, emphasizing the creation of winning cultures and successful teams amid challenges and compliance.
