High profile professional dual athlete in off-field advocacy for gender-based online abuse and trolling, and positive mental health

Tayla Harris played in the inaugural AFLW season with the Brisbane Lions followed by seasons with Carlton Blues before a highly publicised move to Melbourne Football Club in S6 2022. Across only six seasons of the AFLW competition, Harris has received All Australian Honours four times and been awarded AFLW Mark of the Year twice. She is also an outstanding boxer with seven wins and one draw, and currently holds two divisions weights as an Australian Champion.

Harris showed great maturity in speaking out about the online trolling following a photo of her kicking for goal was posted to social media. She was recognised for her work and positive impact as part of a movement to raise awareness around trolls and online bullying, winning the 2021 Young Victorian of the Year Award.

Harris has become a face of Nike worldwide, featuring in a number of Nikes’ ad campaign designed to highlight the power of female determination and display women breaking down barriers through sport.
