A Mother’s Story of Extraordinary Courage

Leah Stewart is a Sydney primary school teacher, mother, and survivor whose life changed forever during a great white shark attack at Coogee Beach in June 2026.

After sustaining catastrophic injuries, spending more than a week in a medically induced coma and undergoing numerous surgeries, Leah had her left arm amputated. Her recovery became a journey of learning how to navigate an entirely different life.

Today, Leah shares an honest and deeply human perspective on resilience, exploring what it means to adapt when life cannot return to the way it was. Her story is one of courage, purpose, gratitude, and finding possibility after profound change.
