Topics for Lisa Tamati
- Goal Setting
Lisa has set huge goals in sports, business and expedition planning and execution and knows the power of goal setting in helping a company or individual on the road to success. She uses examples of her projects to show how to break seemingly impossible goals into digestible chunks, while overcoming obstacles and keeping your eye on the prize at all times. - Leadership
Whether it’s an expedition through a desert in the mountains of the Himalayas or leading a team of colleagues through a difficult corporate project or coaching athletes to perform at the top level, Lisa has developed the skills of a great leader and knows how to get the best out of your team, through passion, enthusiasm, belief in the team and individuals, through respect and recognising skills within the team and through engagement in the mission at hand. Leaders create an inspiring vision and then motivate, inspire and guide others to reach that vision. - Change Management
With the business environment experiencing unprecedented change due to the large growth in technology that has revolutionised many industries, it’s imperative that companies and individuals become comfortable with change. Lisa knows first-hand from her business experiences and her expeditions that things don’t always go to plan, that the goal posts constantly change and that you have to be adaptable or fail. Organisations that adapt quickest and capture advantages when they present themselves survive and flourish, while those refusing to change often don’t. - Health and Safety
Keeping your team safe, healthy, cared for and engaged is now expected of responsible employers and will have a direct effect on your company’s bottom line. Lisa can work with your HSE team to develop workshops or ongoing health and fitness programs. - Risk Management
Lisa believes that risk taking is important to being successful in life and business, but that all risks should be prepared for, minimised and calculated to the best of your ability. Preparation and diligence are key. Avoiding all risks isn’t a realistic or desirable approach to life or business, but living and working with risk and preparing yourself, developing training initiatives that lessen risk and constant vigilance are crucial to success.
Testimonials for Lisa Tamati
When I first heard about Lisa Tamati I knew nothing about her or her achievements. Lisa was invited to speak at our corporate business breakfast where she spoke to 100+ business managers from the Auckland Business Community. Her attitude to life and passion for success was inspirational. The feedback from our guests was amazing and she left a significant impression on all of us. If I could have a fraction of her mind I’m sure I would have conquered Mt Everest blind with both arms tied behind my back

Lisa is not only an extraordinary athlete with an incredible and unique story to tell but she is also an inspirational speaker who manages not only to be extremely entertaining but who also leaves the audience, motivated, moved (often to the point of tears) and feeling like 'Wow if she can do it then so can I' She is a warm and open hearted person, a passionate speaker who will appeal to conference goers, business people, sport groups, schools and charities alike. Her message and the analogies she draws on from her very tough sport, are relevant across the board. Oh! and she is hilarious and knows how to laugh at herself and I would highly recommend her.

Lisa Tamati was inspirational, entertaining, honest and one of the best speakers I have seen at the Sports Awards. I left the event feeling elated and motivated with the many thoughts and feelings she had shared with those lucky enough to have attended. Her story was an example of determination and strength that can come from all of us, she was not your usual sporting star and was not armed with the expected talents and training of a star. It gives the ordinary person the feeling of being able to conquer anything.

I have known Lisa Tamati personally, for a relatively short period of time. However, I first became aware of this bloody extraordinary woman some 4-5 years ago when she kept popping up in News items while running what I perceived, as the most bizarre and incredibly difficult races around the globe. I think they call them races, because they in fact could more accurately be called tests or measures of the ultimate human spirit … a total realignment or even redefining of our understanding of what the human body can endure … providing and I am convinced this is the key, if one has the mental strength to push one’s body through never before imagined pain barriers. I then purchased Lisa’s book ‘ Running Hot and read it from cover to cover that first night, as again I was staggered at what this woman puts herself through. I was then extremely fortunate to listen to Lisa talk about her career and then lucky enough to meet her. Subsequently I’ve have gotten to know Lisa over the past year and she’s an inspiring speaker, a wonderful and courageous person and someone I feel privileged to have met.

Lisa Tamati is blessed with the many of the qualities that great leaders, athletes, artists and business leaders (for example) have. While most people question what will happen if they don’t succeed Lisa will always think instead, 'what if I do succeed?'. Lisa’s destiny is to inspire those around her; young and old alike and her journey, I believe, is only just beginning.

Lisa’s speech was fascinating in its content and inspirational in its message. Students and parents were captivated by Lisa’s experiences as she outlined some of the challenges she has set herself and spoke of what it took to achieve her goals. Hearing how Lisa overcame her own personal challenges helped deliver the message that anything really is possible with determination, application and mental strength – a message that goes far beyond the sports environment. The assembled guests enjoyed Lisa’s relaxed, humorous delivery and particularly enjoyed getting to meet her and ask questions about her career. I would highly recommend Lisa as a motivational speaker for any organisation and am grateful that she shared her experiences and advice with us to help us make our awards night a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.

I picked up Lisa Tamati's book Running Hot from the shelves at work the other day and it was spotted at home by a visiting friend from Hamilton … who duly took it away. She sent it back today with this note: "I am returning the Lisa Tamati book, for me it is so good. I have just bought two copies, one for me to keep and continue to use and the other to share with like minded people. This book is the best read I have had of its type this year. Lisa is a true inspiration, her determination and work ethic is a marvel. Her principles can be used practically and as a motivational tool in any aspect of life. I loved it from start to finish!

Central Football were delighted to have Lisa Tamati as the guest speaker at our Taranaki Prizegiving for 2011. Lisa was both motivational and inspirational and connected wonderfully with the audience of 170, which was made up of both junior and senior players. She is certainly a role model for so many and Central Football is indebted her to for the valuable contribution she made to our function.

I was introduced to Lisa back in 2008. I had been asked to sponsor her for her second Death Valley Challenge, 227 km through the most uninhabited climate and land with heat reaching up to 57 degrees + From the moment that I met her I could see that she was a winner, for me she had the Taranaki attitude never say die. It was a pleasure to sponsor Lisa not only for the Death Valley Challenge but also for the NZ run for Canteen and Cure Kids. Anyone who goes the extra mile and pushes the limits of endurance and fitness, I respect highly. I have seen her at the height of fatigue and collapse only to see the blinkers come on and the winning attitude kick in, from what I believe a very strong willed women. I am pleased to have gained Lisa as a friend.

From the comfort of a designer shop in New Plymouth to a valley floor in the Ladakhi Ranges of India to a mountain 5000 metres high in the Himalayas - it's hard to imagine the sheer teneacity and pain that this journey takes to complete. Lisa's done it, overcoming the pain and herself not to quit but to finish the job she started. A story of true courage, self sacrifice and grim determination. If you see Lisa in the street, you would never see the strengths that she has under that very feminine exterior. Inside a shell of beauty lies a massive heart that beats to win.

Lisa’s inspirational speeches have blown myself and our CanTeen members away. She’s so honest about her challenges and so unnecessarily humble about her outstanding achievements. We’re so fortunate to have her as an ambassador for CanTeen and it’s a great honour to have her as one of our very own from the Naki. Lisa’s book has been a great insight and to hear her speak about her running and the preparations required and hurdles she goes through gives you goosebumps. She seems to be a quiet achiever and I think this also gives her an approachability that is refreshing for someone so well known. She’s a very ‘real’ person and this comes across every time we see her. We wish her all the very best.

I have had the pleasure of listening to Lisa Tamati on several occasions and in a lot of different forums - from corporate lounges, rugby clubs, changing sheds and speaking to other athletes. Don't be fooled by Lisa's good looks, she's a really tough cookie with a definite message and has had to overcome EXTREME obstacles her whole life. Her story is inspirational and motivating but most of all, it is real! Lisa is a small town girl from a great sporting family who takes on the fiercest elements of nature and runs through places where animals barely exist, why? – to find out you need to listen to her in person. I have found Lisa to be as good as any I have ever heard; she is simply world class - not to mention world famous - and is the perfect fit for any audience. Lisa will blow you away with how down to earth she is and how kiwi she is and you only have to meet her once and you'll feel like you have know her your whole life!

Lisa is such an inspirational and passionate speaker. She has the ability to really connect with the audience and bring out their emotions. At several times during her presentation, several people in the audience had tears in their eyes after hearing her incredible story of determination and overcoming the odds in the most challenging of circumstances. Haven’t received such fantastic feedback from any speaker before!

As the final speaker of the National Conference you brought all of the aspects of our conference together, and you were fantastic, your talk is so inspiring and leaves people with no excuses for not achieving their goals. When I asked you to speak I knew of your story and deliberately wanted to have a speaker who would leave the audience spell bound with an amazing story but at the same time have them leaving saying “I have no excuses for not pushing through my pain barrier and doing more”, you certainly did that for our team. You were the favourite speaker of the day. You are a very good communicator and capable of holding an audience for a full key note talk, you combine personal stories, humour and strong principles to deliver a powerful message. As a professional speaker myself I know when someone is good and you are very good, I would highly recommend you to any organisation looking for an inspiring speaker to take their team to a whole new level.

Feedback from attendees in the 3 places has been positive with many of us having Lisa Tamati embedded into our hardwire! One step at time, mental toughness, doing the hard yards, the importance of a positive support crew when stretching the limits, being willing to be the tough coach when someone wants to take the next step and so much more. What I admired the most was how you were able to talk to 5 yr olds-high school children-adults from all walks of life and upcoming athletes with the same message yet delivered to get through. Lisa, should you come back to Hawkes Bay, please let us know, and I am sure the same goes for Palmerston Nth and Taupo.

We have now gathered all our feedback from your presentation at the ALGIM Customer Service Symposium. In a nutshell WOW! You blew away everyone there. Some people were inspired to go out and buy running shoes right then and there. Your stories, your honest sharing and your down to earth style really hit the mark. You really inspired and motivated people, not just with their professional goals, but also personal. One woman said she had felt like she was in a rut with her life and your message about the only thing that stops you from achieving the impossible, is yourself, really hit home for her and made her realise what she needed to do. That it came at the exact right time in her life!
