  • In January 2013, Tim led a team retracing the steps of Ernest Shackleton's journey to Antarctica. A documentary about the journey was screened on the Discovery Channel and SBS, and published in an internationally released book by Harper Collins.
  • For leading the Shackleton expedition, Tim was named the Australian Geographic Society's 2013 Adventurer of the Year and awarded the '2014 Person of the Year' by the world-renowned Classic Boat Magazine. 
  • Tim has also retraced the steps of Sir Douglas Mawson’s polar journey.
  • He holds the record for the fastest unassisted walk to the South Pole.
  • Tim was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to the environment, community and exploration in 2010, and is a Fellow of the Yale World Fellows Program 2009.
  • He is the author of three books about his polar expeditions.
  • He’s a sustainability advisor for the engineering firm Arup, the World Bank and AusAID.
  • Tim is the Patron of Nature Play SA, working to encourage children to get outdoors and participate in unstructured outdoor play in nature.
  • Tim is the Global Ambassador for WWF-Australia
