Biography

Alzarae translated into English means to raise or to lift up and that’s exactly what these four guys do to your spirits with their renditions of well known classics from Andrea Bocelli, remakes by Il Divo, Michael Buble, Rat Pack jazz & swing and there own modern twists on great songs.

With tight harmonies and big voices these guys have been described as New Zealand’s answer to some well known international acts. This is one act you won’t want to miss. These guys always deliver a night to remember.

The members of Alzarae have performed with bands all over New Zealand and internationally and their goal remains; To explore human emotion, to connect with an audience ... to bring laughter and tears, to swell the heart and stimulate the mind, to capture, and enthrall, and above all else, to sing.

The group work with very high quality backing tracks and also offer the option of live musicians behind them on stage if required.

Brian Espiner

Brian is the founding member & manager of Alzarae.He has toured as Musical Director, Support Act and Backing Vocalist for the John Rowles 9 week Millennium tour of NZ in Sept, Oct, & November 1999. Brian’s warm vocal style is likened to Michael Buble have developed to cover a wide range of styles from modern classical to jazz & pop music. With notable appearances at the Americas Cup Alinghi victory party, Good Morning show and numerous corporate functions in NZ and overseas.

Anthony Utama

Anthony was the first winner of The Good Morning Show's "Find A Star" competition in 2009. He has since worked with Grey Bartlet and recorded his own CD of his favorite songs. Anthony was the lead male role in several major productions of High School Musical & Grease and has appeared in Coke a Cola Christmas in the Park several times.

Shaun Petterson

Shaun Peterson has had many varied lead roles in productions such as  Le Mes', Jesus Christ Super Star and has performed solo at several Italian Restaurants in Auckland. Shaun has performed in the past with recognised NZ voices such as Max Cryer, and was also a member of the 1999-2000 New Zealand Secondary Students Choir where he travelled around NZ and Canada.  Whilst on that tour he had the privilege of singing with dame Malvina Major and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. 

Bevan Williams

Bevan is a classically trained, multi talented singer and actor, Bevan has honed his skills on stages throughout his native land and through out the world. Bevan's versatile voice, dynamic range, and chameleon like acting ability have enabled him to master a wide variety of genres. Be it Classical, Crossover, Jazz, contemporary or musical theatre, the motivation remains the same... To sing.
