Dr John Tickell - taking the US by storm

Dr John Tickell, author of the best-selling book "Laughter, Sex, Vegetables and Fish," is about to take the US by storm. He’ll soon have his own show on PBS Network and his next book is being published by one of the world’s biggest publishers.

John is already very much in demand as an Australian speaker, and has a growing audience at conferences in the US, but his name is soon to be even better known.

The PBS television show came about entirely by chance. John had been speaking at a conference in Los Angeles and an attendee recommended him to one of the top producers at PBS. After being given the tip, the producer did some research on Youtube. He had been looking for health/wellness/longevity experts from around the world and John fitted the bill perfectly. He was invited, along with two other experts, to fly to the US and film a pilot.

After testing in various US cities, the show got the nod. John then flew back and filmed a 60 minute show, including a segment with a live audience. At the moment, the show is what’s known as a “pledge special” and is called “Love, Laugh and Eat Your Way to 100.” He also has a new book which is being published by the second-largest publisher in the world.

Both the book and the television show are expected to be released in July this year, and he’ll be going back in a couple of weeks to do some more filming. His last book, also published in New York, went on to sell many millions of copies and has been translated into five languages, including Mandarin.

Dr John Tickell’s opinions are based on “common sense,” which he noted is not always so common. His theories aim to help people to “live as long as George Burns.” He has very grounded reasoning and solid advice for audiences, whether talking about high protein diets, the diabetes epidemic, serving sizes, corporate wellness, health motivation, handling stress, longevity, happiness, Western lifestyles, smoking, relationships, diets and even New Year’s resolutions.

Ultimately, Dr John Tickell provides sensible, practical concepts for living a healthy and happy life. He has the ability to dissect and distil information in a way which audiences can easily understand and take home with them. The practicality of his message cuts through and they can use his ideas to make changes in their lives.

On a personal level, John has no plans to relocate to the US. He’ll instead visit every two to three months for filming. This way he’ll be able to spend more time with the most important people in his life – his wife of 42 years (“the best personal trainer in Australia”) and his five children and eight grandchildren – as well as being available to speak at events.
