Viking Warrior Raid

A presentation is suddenly interrupted by a group of Viking Raiders who burst into the room and seize control with the noisy clanging of swords and shields (and maybe the odd ABBA number). After some playful harassment of trouble makers, the lead Viking informs the group that as newly recruited members of the Viking family they must pay attention to a short legend concerning a great opportunity that if seized, will bring great prosperity and plunder.

The Viking clans must:

Gather information and resources for their journey.

Overcome the challenges of the gods on a tailored journey.

Cross Bifrost (the rainbow bridge) from Midgard (the underworld of chaos) to Asgard (home of the gods) to re-awaken the gods (customers?).

When the gods (customers) are awake, replace Loki's resources with those of your team (take competitor products from a shelf and replace with yours?)

Celebrate your victory in Viking style.

Before undertaking any journey a good team will take stock of strengths and weaknesses to develop a good plan that makes best use of their own strengths, whilst exploiting the weaknesses of their enemy (here we can refer to our Execution excellence model and / or such things as Belbin, Myers Briggs or DISC). Just like the Vikings, plan well, make sure your crew understand the plan, and then execute the plan.
The whole expedition is then reviewed to ensure that lessons learned make for better expeditions in the future.
A great theme dinner can accompany this theme and we can offer advice on how to make it a huge fun night whilst complimenting the team event component.

The Vikings...

Vikings were renowned and feared as great warriors, seafarers, explorers and colonisers. They feared no people, and as explorers did not even fear the unknown. They painstakingly developed skills and expertise to conquer their foes and discover new territory that brought great wealth and power.

Occasionally they would get knocked down, but they'd always get right back up again. Furthermore whoever knocked them down usually payed very dearly for it. The stereotype of drunken, bearded and smelly thugs, actually transforms in the light of history and fact into a very successful, competitive, sophisticated and highly organized group of people who set about making the best use of their own resources to conquer and profit in the most time and cost effective way possible.

Viking culture, civilization and blood survive in many corners of the world today and indeed constitute a substantial part of the history and the foundation of the modern world.

They became so successful and so widely spread simply because they were tenacious and determined explorers who would not give up when there was something that they wanted to achieve. They did not give in to adversity, they thrived upon it! Your own Viking clans will no exception during this saga that will test their tenacity, skills and will to win.
