His Masters degree is in religious studies and was on the role of the Uniting Church in the debate over economic justice.
Peace Medal
Dr Keith Suter received the Australian Government's Peace Medal in 1986: the International Year of Peace. He was Rostrum's "Communicator of the Year" in 1995, and in 1994, he was voted “Australian Communicator of the Year”. He was made a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow in 1997 in recognition of his work for international co-operation.
United Nations Association President
Between 1978 and 1999 he was at various times the national and state presidents (NSW and WA) of the United Nations Association of Australia. In 1999 he was made a Life Member of the UN Association. From 1991 to 1998 he was the President of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Sydney.
Publishing
Keith Suter's latest book published in 2005 is making international relations accessible to everyone. Called '50 Things You Want to Know About World Issues', the book deals with the big issues such as the war on terrorism, the depletion of the world's oil supply, and even the McDonald's Golden Arches Theory of World Peace. His intellectual versatility is remarkable.
