Science seems a long way from sport, but Tim Lane studied it for three years before deciding sport was his line.
Tim started with ABC TV as a part-time commentator in Tasmania in 1973. After 18 months, he gained a full time job with the Sports Department in Hobart where he worked for five years, before moving to Melbourne.
Well known as an ABC commentator, Tim Lane now also presents the sport on ABC TV Weeknight News.
