Born on the 7th April 1968 and raised in Rockhampton, Duncan Armstrong's first claim to fame was in September September 1988, when he broke the world record to win the Gold medal in the 200 metres freestyle.
His infamy was enhanced by the outrageous antics of his coach, Laurie Lawrence who created an unprecedented media spotlight when Duncan won his Gold.
Following his Gold medal victory, Duncan received a host of honours including Young Australian of the Year, and an Order of Australia Medal.
In addition to the Gold medal winning performance at the Seoul Olympics, Duncan also won a Silver medal in the 400m freestyle, plus two Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games during his career.
After representing Australia at two Olympic Games, Duncan retired from the pool in 1993 to pursue a career in media.
A fantastic year in 2000, saw Duncan enter into a new foray of day- time television on Channel Seven, presented as a regular host on Fox Sports Central and was an integral part of bringing the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games coverage live to your living room via Radio 2UE.
Duncan faces the Centenary of Federation, with his usual energetic youthfulness, and promises to deliver on every facet of his career.
