Ron Barassi is regarded by many people as the greatest Australian Rules Coach. Barassi was a man who wouldn't tolerate failure and demanded courage, perfection, discipline, skill and teamwork.

As a player Barassi participated in over 250 League Games which included six V.F.L. (now A.F.L.) Premierships with Melbourne Football Club. Barassi was always noted for his incredible desire, determination and will to win.

Towards the end of his playing career Barassi took on the coaching job of Carlton and was able to lead them to the 1968 and 1970 Premierships. In 1973 he was recruited by lowly North Melbourne to help them win their first Premiership after 50 years!. This he achieved in his third year and then went on to help them win another Flag in 1977.

Throughout the 1970's Barassi was undoubtedly the "Numero Uno" coach of the V.F.L.. In the early 1980's he coached at the Melbourne Football Club and then limited his football commitments to the Media - Channel Seven, 3AW and the Herald Sun.

However, in 1993 Barrassi took on the greatest challenge of his life by accepting the coaching task of trying to lift the ailing, and troubled Sydney Swans.

Ron’s 70th birthday year, 2006, was big by any calculation. He completed the arduous Kokoda Track, “walked on water” in the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games and took flight in a tandem parachute jump. He was named Melburnian of the Year, Healthy Ageing Citizen of the Year and elevated to “Legend” in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

Barassi has never lost his desire to succeed and achieve, and is often called upon by companies and organisations to help lift their performances.
