A businesswoman, journalist and author. Ita at the age of 33 became the youngest-ever Editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly and later the first woman to ever edit a major metropolitan daily newspaper in Australia when she was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Sydney Daily & Sunday Telegraphs. She was also the first woman appointed to the board of News Ltd. Australia.
Ita Buttrose’s extensive and impressive career in print, radio and television turned her into a household name.
Currently, she appears weekly on Channel 7’s Sunrise as a social commentator, is Editor-at-Large of OK! Magazine and is writing her ninth book. Get in Shape which she co-authored with celebrity trainer, Lee Campbell, was published last year with the aim of motivating older Australians, especially women, to keep fit and healthy.
