Respected finance and business journalist, Emma Alberici, fronts ABC TV's morning business program, “Business Breakfast”.
Until joining the ABC, Emma was a reporter/producer at the Nine Network's A Current Affair. She also presented the financial markets report on the Today Show on Saturday, and regularly took the seat on the Early News and the Today Show for Channel Nine's finance editor, Michael Pascoe.
In 2001, Emma was a Walkley Award finalist for her investigation into the mistreatment of taxpayers by the Tax Office and the new rural industries jeopardised by the Tax Office's blanket judgment against tax effective investments.
Her story on a group of teenagers from St Andrew's College (Sydney) who raised $100,000 for the Paralympic Games, earned her a nomination for a Youth Media Award in 2000.
She was first nominated for a Walkley Award in 1998 for her work on the 'Casino Death' story. She managed to acquire and broadcast video footage from the Star Casino on the night of the death of a patron killed during a brawl with security staff. It was her reports surrounding that event, including exclusive interviews with witnesses, family and friends, that prompted a police integrity commission inquiry.
