Rev Dr John Fleming is an internationally renowned bioethicist and widely published author. Dr Fleming served as Director of the Southern Cross Bioethics Institute in Adelaide and Lecturer in Bioethics in the Institute and is currently President of Campion College in NSW.
 
Dr Fleming has had a wide experience in the media and communications industry, which, when combined with his extensive knowledge on a wide range of topics including medical ethics, politics, and public policy make him an engaging and challenging speaker who combines an easy approach to complex and difficult subjects with wit and sincerity.
 
Well known as a commercial radio personality in Adelaide having hosted Adelaide's most popular talk-back radio program on Adelaide's 5AA (for most of the last 33 years), Rev Dr. John Fleming is a Catholic priest who is married with three children, a former champion debater, an academic, and raconteur.
 
His BA is from the University of Adelaide, his Licentiate in Theology from the Australian College of Theology, and his Ph.D. from Griffith University for a thesis entitled "Human Rights and Natural Law: An Analysis of the consensus gentium and its Implications for Bioethics". Ordained an Anglican priest in 1970, he was received into the Catholic Church and ordained a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Adelaide in 1995.
 
He has been a member of various associations, boards and councils dealing with bioethical issues at national and international levels, including the South Australia Council on Reproductive Technology, the Biotechnology Consultative Group advising the Commonwealth Biotechnology Ministerial Council and UNESCO's International Bioethics Committee (1992-1996) that developed the "Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights". He was a delegate to the Australian Constitutional Convention in 1998. He is a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. He has lectured and published extensively, with contributions ranging from "Wake Up, Lucky Country" in 1980 to his most recent work "Human embryos: a limitless scientific resource?"
