GOLD104's breakfast duo Grubby and Dee Dee are the reigning King and Queen of Melbourne radio.
Crowned by Melbourne Lord Mayor John So to celebrate their 20 years together in 2006, the pair is still going strong in the country's most competitive radio market.
Melbourne-born Grubby, aka Peter Stubbs, is a fanatical Sydney Swans supporter and an official Ambassador for the club. The brother of stand-up comedian Richard Stubbs, he spends his spare time at the gym, playing bass guitar or working on his model railway layout. On weekends he heads to his beach retreat at Apollo Bay.
Grubby credits much of his success to his "happy and supportive" family; wife Jenny, a retired kindergarten teacher, daughter Emma, a social worker, and son James.
Grubby has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music and AFL /VFL statistics.
A former Wesley College student, he spent 15 years in the fashion industry before turning his obsession with sports statistics and music into a new career with the legendary 3XYZoo in 1985, before joining FoxFM's successful Morning Crew where he met Dee Dee.
London-born Diane "Dee Dee" Dunleavy grew up on the Mornington Peninsula from the age of two and started her career as a journalist with Standard Newspapers before reading news with FoxFM. Her sparkling wit and intelligence, and an instant rapport with Grubby, saw the pair team up.
A mother of two, Dee Dee loves collecting antiques and barracking for her beloved Saints. She and her husband Kieran, a solid plasterer, have built and/or renovated several houses, including their current project, a rambling 1850's home listed by Heritage Victoria. Dee Dee has two primary school-aged children Bonnie and Bailey and is an active patron of the Bonnie Babes Foundation.
Grubby and Dee Dee joined GOLD104 in 1999 and attribute their longevity to an acute knowledge of their audience and their city, and their ability to adapt to any business situation, from contract negotiations to meeting clients, from live broadcasts to celebrity parties.
They both have an inherent playfulness and sense of fun, well balanced by keen intelligence and respect for their surroundings. They are equally at home hosting a fashion parade, a sportsmans night, a charity fundraiser or a black-tie awards function.
Grubby and Dee Dee have made numerous television appearances as special guests on Good Morning Australia, The Today Show, Bert's Family Feud, Steve Vizard's Tonight Live and Ernie and Denise.
Both have contributed articles to a number of national publications and Grubby contributed a chapter to the Hardie and Grant publication Footy in the Sixties.
