Ivan A. Deveson AO is one of Australia's most respected business leaders. He worked with General Motors Corporation in the USA, Denmark, Belgium, South Africa and Australia, becoming Managing Director of Nissan, Australia in 1987. Ivan was Chairman of the Seven Network for five years, overseeing the successful re-capitalization of the company. He was a Director of the Commonwealth Bank, MIM Holdings, the Crane Group, and as Chairman of the United Group for ten years, he led the establishment of one of Australia's leading engineering, maintenance and service companies.
His long-term commitment to education and training continues, following his time as Chancellor of RMIT University and Chairman of the State Training Board.
Mr Ivan Deveson was the Lord Mayor of Melbourne from 1996 to 1999 and maintains a keen interest in local government and community issues. He is the author of, "The Evolution of an Australian Management Style", and a mentor to hundreds of young executives in small and medium enterprises and big business. Ivan is a former Director of the St. James Ethics Centre and promotes higher ethical standards in business and government.
