It was sex that made Bettina Arndt famous. Having trained as a clinical psychologist, in the early 1970's she became one of Australia's first sex therapists. As editor of the sex-education magazine, Forum, she spent ten years talking about sex on television and radio. She taught doctors and other professionals and talked endlessly about this fascinating subject to audiences all over Australia and overseas.

By the 1980's she'd had enough of a good thing. She gave up sex - professionally speaking - and moved onto writing and talking about broader social issues and particularly the rapidly changing relationships between men and women. In the mid-eighties Bettina spent five years living in New York where she wrote a newspaper column syndicated through The Age in Melbourne, and added two children to her family of three.

Bettina returned to Australia in late 1991 and worked as a feature writer firstly for The Australian, and then the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, before joining Australian Consolidated Press to write for The Bulletin and Australian Women’s Weekly. Her expertise on a wide range of social issues has also lead to appointments on various government advisory committees, dealing with family law, child support, childcare, and ageing.

Her topics include:
¨       What women want.
¨       How men can save their marriages
¨       Why fatherhood has become a risky business
¨       Sperm Wars
¨       How sex taught me to think like a man.
¨       The marriage market

Her ability to speak on both light-hearted and more serious issues accounts for her continuing appeal to a wide range of diverse groups and organisations.
