Guy Pearse is an author, environmental advocate and consultant based near Canberra. As a former lobbyist and government insider, he understands how politics works, and when it comes to the politics of climate change he wrote the book.
The 2006 Four Corners exposé on Australia’s ‘Greenhouse Mafia’ was based on Guy’s PhD thesis which investigated the Australian business response to climate change.Guy’s subsequent book High & Dry, has been lauded by a broad range of prominent Australians from Tim Flannery to Barry Jones to Phillip Adams. It remains the most comprehensive account of the dirty politics behind Australia’s response to climate change. Guy spent most of his career avoiding the limelight but having exposed the extraordinary influence of Australia’s carbon lobby Guy has had to adapt quickly to the public arena. He has written opinion pieces for a host of prominent Australian media organisations such as the Bulletin Magazine, Quarterly Essay, The Canberra Times and Crikey. He has provided commentary for various TV programs including ABC's Four Corners, Difference of Opinion, and JTV, SBS Insight, and Sky News' Eco Report, along with dozens of radio stations across Australia.
Guy’s journey from political staffer to industry lobbyist to whistle-blowing author and commentator on environmental issues makes him both unique and ideal as a speaker for industry conferences, company boards, broking houses, university seminars and a host of environmental events. Since July 2007 Guy has given over 20 speeches to a wide range of different audiences including:

As a speaker, Guy is in a rare position. He’s worked on all sides of government advising federal agencies, political leaders, corporate clients, and most of Australia’s major environmental organisations. So, while he communicates easily with all these different audiences, he no longer answers to any company, political party, or institution. He can speak with more freedom than most, so expect much less spin and much more about what's really going on. Guy’s understanding of the politics behind climate change policy in Australia is unparalleled so his insights are valuable for any organisation grappling with sustainability in general, and Australia's evolving response to climate change in particular.
