Dr Don Edgar is best known for his work as Foundation Director of the Australian Institute of Studies, which he left in 1993 after a fourteen year term of office. He "retired" to run the "New Links Workplace Project" as a Professor at Monash University's Key Centre for Industrial Relations, and is now an Adjunct Professor at RMIT's new Centre for Workplace Culture Change.
Don Edgar has published over a dozen books, and was responsible as Director of the Institute for its massive output of research on every aspect of family life in Australia. His latest book, entitled "Men Mateship Marriage" was published in October 1998. As well as that, Don is a consultant to business on work-family issues and a consultant to governments on family policy.
