David is a well-known, respected and successful businessman.
David spent 25 years as a senior executive and Director of Smorgon
Consolidated Industries which was one of Australia's largest family
companies. In 1995, the company announced a staged divestment of all of
the business interests and David then established his own investment
company, Generation Investments Pty Ltd.
Today, David's main business interest is as Executive Chairman of Inmatrix.
Inmatrix provides solutions that enable financial institutions to make better credit decisions, develop stronger client relationships and achieve greater profitability.
The insights and experiences David gained through working in the Smorgon
family business led to his becoming the inaugural Chairman in 1997 of
Family Business Australia, a position held for five years.
Since October 1996, David has been President of the Western Bulldogs Football Club, one of 16 clubs in the national Australian Football League. David’s commitment and dedication to his Club is widely acknowledged.
David has been a Governor of the Sony Foundation, since its inception in June 1999. Sony Foundation assists the youth of Australia and has distributed over
$2 million.
David was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in June 2000 for services to the Western Bulldogs Football Club and to the community through health, education and social welfare organisations.
In 2008, David accepted the role of Ambassador for Ochre – supporting Indigenous health through art for the Menzies School of Health Research – Australia’s leading research organization in indigenous health and tropical diseases.
David was recently inducted into the Brighton Grammar School Inaugural Hall of Fame for his contribution to business philanthropy and sport.
David has three sons; all married and has six grandchildren.
