Andrew Günsberg has had a career in Australian broadcasting since 1994. Four solid years of juggling his on-stage work as a bass player in the Brisbane band scene with the sleep-deprived graveyard shift at B105 led him to leave both behind for the afternoon shift at SAFM in Adelaide. Much to the chagrin of the Program Director at SAFM - who'd just paid his relocation expenses, five months after Andrew started there, his blossoming ability in front of his video camera scored him a gig at Foxtel's 24hr music platform, Channel [v] in Sydney.
In 1999 Andrew began hosting "By Demand", a three-hour live video request show beamed out of Foxtel's Wharf 8 in Sydney. Within six months, they had moved the entire production to Bent St., Fox Studios Australia. At the time Andrew hosted more live television than anyone in Australia, all from a three-walled publicly accessible street-level studio. Numerous national and international assignments followed, and over his time at Channel [v], Andrew's unparalleled interviewing ability led him to sit face-to-face with some of the most famous names in all of music.
While at Channel [v], Andrew gained experience in almost every kind of live broadcast imaginable, remote, studio, late-night, breakfast. From the middle of a desert, to his toes in the sand beachside, up to his knees in snow at the ski fields or covered in mosh sweat at a festival, it was always different, and always live. It was this live experience that gained the interest of Fremantle Media when they were casting the Australian production of the hottest TV format on the planet, Australian Idol. Six Seasons, three Logie wins later and still going strong, Andrew feels that working on Idol is, "the TV equivalent of playing first-grade football. The budget is there, the players on the field are all first rate, and there's even a wet towel fight in the showers after the show."
