In a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Daryl Braithwaite is undoubtedly one of Australia’s premier entertainers. Respected and admired by his fans and peers alike he has forged a career to be proud of.

Daryl found fame as lead singer of Sherbet – a band synonymous with the 70’s and their accomplishments during their long career were many. Between 1971 – 1978 Sherbet produced 20 national Top 40 singles and were the first Australian band to top the $1 million dollar mark in album sales in this country, with a total of 15 albums and 30 singles to their credit, with songs like ‘Summer Love’ becoming the highest selling single of 1975 and ‘Howzat’ not only a hit in Australia, but also in England and America.

Following the release of Sherbet’s last studio album in 1979 Daryl spent a short time in America where he recorded a moderately successful solo album titled ‘Out On The Fringe’. Then in 1980 under the new name of Sherbs, the band released a further three albums in an attempt to appeal to a more mature audience. However, despite their change in direction they were still thought of as Sherbet and in 1983 following an extremely successful farewell tour, the members each went their separate ways. Many years later Sherbet were inducted into the prestigious Aria ‘Hall Of Fame’ and were also one of the artists featured in the ‘Australian Rock n’ Roll’ series of postage stamps.

In November 1988 Daryl released the phenomenally successful album ‘Edge’ which spent well over a year in the national Aria charts, peaking at #1 for several weeks and gaining quadruple platinum status with over 300,000 copies sold in Australia alone. In 1989 it became the highest selling CD in Sony Music Australia’s history, spawning five hit singles including ‘One Summer’, written by Daryl which went on to achieve gold status.

Daryl continues to be in great demand as a live performer and has appeared at a number of engagements, both corporate and public most of which have been in the ever-popular acoustic mode, featuring Dale Kruse on piano and guitarist David Campbell.

With his wealth of experience and a genuine desire to continue working, Daryl looks to the future with great enthusiasm. Apart from his obvious talent, it is sheer enjoyment in his work that keeps Daryl where he is and that, coupled with his positive outlook and a grounded attitude to life ensures he will continue to look forward to many more rewarding challenges.

More recently, Daryl continues to be in great demand as a live performer both in the corporate and public capacity. Daryl’s primary focus has been finding space in between touring extensively throughout Australia to write and record his new C.D, which is due for release in late 2003.

Also recently Daryl and Band joined the official Australian Joe Cocker Tour as the featured guests opening each performance in all Major cities around Australia. Daryl received an overwhelming response with standing ovations from a new audience each night.

Daryl’s passion for touring continues to surprise even himself and with the future release (July 2004) of his new CD “A PLACE IN THE SUN” will be able to further expand his enjoyment of playing for the people.

Daryl has now embarked on probably the most extensive broad tour across Australia titled “You’d almost think this was a holiday tour 2003- 2005” Daryl will perform well known songs from his past multi platinum albums and will include the Australian song of the year “The Horses” and exclusive previews of his new tracks soon to be released. Also included in his 90-minute performance will be, for a limited time, a rare performance of the Sherbet hits “Howzat” and “You’ve got the gun”.

Throughout his career, Daryl’s incredibly unique voice has captured a time and place integral to The Australian Music Scene and more importantly, to the audience.
