Have you been to functions where the live music just isn’t happening? MATT HETHERINGTON believes it’s time for a change. It’s time for quality entertainment. A band that gives a great performance for everyone. In 1988 Matt Hetherington put his band Beyond Belief together and has played consistently to large and enthusiastic crowds ever since. Matt believes that the audience has to be entertained not just played at. His interaction with the crowd and great energy on stage is what separates him from the rest. For too long the same old bands are booked for functions. They rarely care enough to make the night a special occasion. If you want quality entertainment then you have to have Matt Hetherington and Beyond Belief.
It's been a busy year for Matt Hetherington & he's certainly not slowing up now. You may have caught Matt on stage at the Melbourne Concert Hall, as hippie tribe leader Berger in The Production Company’s HAIR, directed by David Atkins.
Here’s what The Age had to say about Matt’s performance…
It is hard to imagine a better cast than the one assembled here. Matt Hetherington is strong vocally and dramatically, as the central character, Berger…
After major roles in "HAIR" & just recently "SOUTH PACIFIC", Matt will be starring alongside Paul Mercurio & Michael Veitch in the new musical version of "THE FULL MONTY" commencing in late December.
Matt has toured the country in “Happy Days – The Arena Mega Musical” playing Potsie Weber, and starred in “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!” opposite Julia Morris at the Athenaeum theatre. Audiences around the country are realising the energy and presence of a seasoned professional. Industry heavies agree and are touting him as the next big thing.
In 1996 Matt graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts shortly there after he workshopped the now hugely successful “Boy from Oz” and starred in "The New Rocky Horror Show" in Hong Kong.
Matt has made numerous television appearances as both an actor and a featured vocalist, including regular spots on IMT & GMA. Matt was asked to appear as a guest vocalist along side Australia’s most loved male singers including: Daryl Braithwaite, Doug Parkinson, Jon Stevens, Chris Wilson, Joe Camilleri and Craig McLachlan on the final “Hey Hey it’s Saturday”.
Earlier this year Matt made a guest appearance to much critical acclaim on “Stingers” for the Nine Network. On his return from the Happy Days tour Matt was approached by Australian Style, a new and exciting magazine, where his achievements were acknowledged along side some of the countries hottest young talents. He was also requested to sing at the opening of the new Olympic Swimming Complex in Homebush, NSW in the presence of Prime Minister John Howard.
His band has performed for some of the worlds largest companies including the Ford Motor Co. (nationally), KPMG, Cadbury Schweppes, Telstra, Tattersalls, Bovis Lendlease, McDonalds, Ericcson, Woolworths/Safeway, Norwich Union, Pacific Access, Mayne Health, and Sigma Pharmaceuticals. The list goes on and on.
Matt has a voice and style perfectly suited for live performance. After many years training and working in the industry, it appears that the step into the big time is close at hand for this talented young Australian artist.
