The Adelaide-based Bacchanalia String Quartet was founded in 1998 by a group of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra musicians, and has since then built an enviable reputation for great versatility and artistic excellence. Their repertoire covers an enormous range of music, from the traditional classical Quartet repertoire, to arrangements of jazz, film themes, tango and pop.
In recent years Bacchanalia has performed in national direct broadcasts of the Franck Piano Quintet, and the Schubert String Quintet in C for the ABC network. They have given concerts as part of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s lunch-hour recital series, the Barossa Harvest Festival, as well as the Chamber Players of South Australia, the Adelaide Society for Keyboard Music, and the Jurlique Herb Farm Concert Series.
In 2002 Bacchanalia performed with Rod Stewart at Barossa Under the Stars!
In addition to concert and recording activities, Bacchanalia String Quartet maintains a busy performing schedule with engagements at corporate functions, weddings, and other events.
The Bacchanalia String Quartet is fast earning a reputation as one of Adelaide's most dynamic and versatile ensembles. They have performed for a wide range of corporate clients, including KPMG, Deloittes Touche Tomatsu, ETSA Utilities and Sealink.
