Kane Alexander is one of Australia's most sought after young performers and one of the hottest new artists to hit Australia’s corporate music scene.
Remember the name Kane Alexander - every household will soon know it! The 27-year-old with the heaven-sent voice has just delivered Australia his calling card: first as special guest on the Il Divo tour and now with his self-titled debut album.
A mesmerising collection of classical, pop, jazz and Latin that is both unique and incredibly epic, the album features 'Come Vivrei' - an Italian version of Trisha Yearwood's Grammy winning 'How Do I Live' - as well as Kane's duet with Tina Arena, 'Timeless'.
Equally at home in the genres of Classical, Jazz, Big Band, Cabaret, and Pop, he is perhaps best known for the lead roles he has performed on the Australian stage. These roles include Bobby Strong in Melbourne Theatre Company's Urinetown, Claude in the Australian production of Hair, Willard in Footloose, the Scarecrow in the Sydney season of The Wizard of Oz and Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. He also performed in the 10th Anniversary production of Les Miserables, South Pacific, Angry Penguins, and Only Heaven Knows. In the USA, Kane appeared in Elegies and An Evening with Jerry Herman and has toured Australia in concert with the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2000, Kane took his cabaret show to New York and appeared at the FireBird Café and the legendary Algonquin Oak Room. In the 2001 New York Cabaret Awards, he was named "Best New Voice" in the Theatermania Cabaret list, and won both the BISTRO and MAC Awards for "Most Outstanding Debut". In addition, Kane became "Critic's Pick" in the New York Post, and "Pick of the Week" in New York's Time Out Magazine for three consecutive weeks. In 2002, he was asked to perform at Rupert Murdoch's 70th birthday party in New York, alongside Natalie Cole.
After his return to Australia, he was named a finalist in the Arts section of the 2001 Young Australian of the Year Awards, and nominated for a MO Award for his performance in Footloose.
Kane's television appearances include Good Morning Australia, Denise, The Midday Show, In Melbourne Tonight, Carols By Candlelight and The Good Friday Appeal Gala, along with roles in Late For School, Neighbours, Water Rats and Stingers. Kane also completed a tour with the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra, performing The Music of Lerner & Loewe at concert halls around Australia.
